iPhone 2.0 firmware update still unavailable

Seems like the hour-long 3G activation times weren’t the only hiccup this weekend- Apple has apparently forgotten about people who want to install the latest firmware update on their Edge iPhones. Apple promised that the new firmware would be available exactly 36 hours ago, and, to put it simply- it isn’t. I tried installing the update multiple times in the past two days, and have been presented with the above message each time. Have you been able to update your Edge iPhone?

UPDATE- It’s live! The update is now available. Before you download the firmware, though, be sure to upgrade to the latest version of iTunes.

  1. It was available last night; I updated my partner’s original iPhone last night around 7 PM Eastern Time.

  3. My iTunes would not show that the 2.0 version was available till i updated my version of iTunes to 7.7. Once I did that then it showed that the update was available.

  4. I’m pretty sure it was available when promised.  In fact, didn’t they blame all the new purchase activation problems on the fact that all the old iPhone owners were slamming the servers with activation requests (because part of the 2.0 update requires re-activation)?

  6. I was able to update mine at around 12:30pm on the 11th, with the huge demand you just had to be connected at the right time. And the update isn’t really worth it anyway just a whole bunch of useless crap to add to my iphone. The only real benefit is push email other than that everything else is just vanilla icing. And People stop bitching , And i really do hate iphone matters, it just seems to lend itself to negativity any way. Everyone is always looking for something to go wrong must all be blackberry owners. lol

  7. If you have just bought a “pocket-mac” you have just participated in a “Paradine shift!”........and it also makes calls!

  10. Mine original iphone took about 90-100 mins from beginning to end. Waiting for it to restore did take a long time, I but it down to being a 16GB unit using approximately 14GB of storage.
