Will Firefox be coming to the iPhone anytime soon?
Yesterday, Firefox creator Mozilla invited a select few technology writers to participate in a question-and-answer session at its headquarters in Mountain View, California. Although the majority of the discussion revolved around Firefox’s growth, the release of Firefox 3, and the features that will appear in the next version. None of this really concerns us iPhone fans. Luckily, someone asked the question, “Will Firefox be coming to the iPhone anytime soon?” The Mozilla execs leading the conference responded with a “no”. Why? Well, it appears that the restrictions Apple has placed on SDK-created applications are too restrictive to allow for a full-fledged browser. Here are their exact responses:
CEO John Lilly: “Apple has not written a license which allows Firefox to run on the iPhone.”
VP Mike Schroepfer: “Android and iPhone are closed platforms. There are carriers and device manufacturers who are more open with their platform, and we’ll do well there—the Nokia N810 internet tablet, for example.”

Good...keep your ****** browser to yourselves. It sucks on every other platform so why ruin my beautiful iPhone with your junk software. Get over it...Safari and IE are the winners, you are the HD-DVD of browsers. Grow a set and get out of the business

IE? Winner? Wow!
I for one would like to see alternative browsers on the iPhone so they push each other to get better and more stable. Safari on the iPhone is great but definately not perfect.

HA! Nice troll attempt ‘fanboi’
Hilarious.But in all seriousness,
Firefox is clearly a superior to IE & Safari.
Like all apple software, Safari works VERY well on Apple HARDWARE, but put it in the real-world on other systems and it fails miserably.
IE is the same, it works quite well on PCs but failed miserably on the mac (which may be why it was discontinued).
Safari and IE are like bubble-boys. Take them out of their respective sterile OS-environments and they do quite horribly.
And Neither work on Linux.
Firefox on the other hand works exceedingly well on all OSes. Not that it doesn’t have it’s own cross-platform problems too, but they’re DEFINITELY not as serious as the ones shown by IE & Safari.btw,
You my want to reconsider your alternate spelling of ‘boi’ of boy. It’s very often interpreted with homosexual conotations. Similar to how many hardcore lesbians spell woman, womyn.
(A vain attempt to distance itself from the root-word) -
Wonder if safari 3 on iPhone will support webkit and CSS3, this would represent a huge incentive to start actually taking advantage of CSS3.
