Reuters recently reported that the Singapore Telecommuncations Ltd. or SingTel has already signed up a deal with Apple Inc. This deal allows the SingTel to distribute Apple Inc.’s latest smartphone, the second-generation iPhone, in the country. Singapore Telecommunications Ltd. is currently the largest telecom firm in Asia.

According to a very reliable source who does not wish to be named, the second-generation iPhone will be launched in Singapore before August 2008 ends. This simply supports the announcement made by SingTel last June 2008. The company said that they would distribute the iPhone in Singapore. However, they did not provide a specific date for the device’s release.

Before Apple Inc. officially launched the second-generation iPhone in 22 countries last July 11, Apple Inc. already has a goal of spreading a wider marker all over the world. This includes the countries in Europe, Africa, as well as Asia.

The second-generation iPhone that offers a faster web access and greater e-mail features will surely be a hit among the residents in Singapore. The country is known for the latest gadgets as well as high living standard. Most of the Singaporeans as well as the foreigners living in the country are part of the corporate world, making the features and applications of the second-generation iPhone very suitable for them.
