If you’re like me and can’t get enough music for your money, Apple may have just the solution for you!
iTunes, aka the most popular digital music store ever, may soon be offering an “all you can eat” type of deal for $129 a year.
Not one, but three Apple rumor sites have received anonymous tips hinting at this very real possibility, all from unique sources. (See MacRumors, The Unofficial Apple Weblog, and MacDailyNews)
These anonymous tips also stated that MobileMe users will most probably receive a $30 discount ($129 to $99.)
Tom Crazit of CNET has uncovered rumors dating back as far as 2005 of an iTunes subscription-like plan. In my opinion this rumor appears to hold the most promise, due in part to the unique multiple sources who have rumored it.
Rumor (emphasis on rumor) has it that we can expect to see this “iTunes unlimited” package as early as September this year, less than a month!
Just looking at my iTunes library I see that I have spent over $320 on music and TV shows alone (woah!) My mouth begins to water at the possibility of a deal that would let me download as much as I want, legally!
Two things, this is just a rumor after all, so Apple has yet to confirm anything. Also, check back with iPhoneFreak for the latest on this story! I promise you the instant Apple announces unlimited downloads you will be able to hear it on iPhoneFreak. That is, if us writers are not too overwhelmed with joy.

That’s a lot of sites to site!

I agree this would be most helpful for many addicted itunes store users…. ;p

I can’t wait for subscription plan like this. This is the most important feature that the Zune marketplace has over iTunes.
Let’s hope it’s just not good old speculation, again…

I dont want any of their DRM-ed up “play it on 5 comptuers only” tainted content.
Any decent providers around with a similar offer?

I agree with you Phillip, the DRM does suck, but how many computers do you have?
Hopefully this plan would also apply to the non-DRM music they have begun introducing in the store.

The trend in the music industry is clearly to sell non-DRM music, but “all you can eat” type of offer would have to be wrapped with DRM. You’re renting the music and not buying a copy.
I can’t stand DRMs, but for an “all you can eat” subscription, I wouldn’t mind at all, as long as it offers a decent flexibility.

This sounds like a great idea. Exactly why I am not holding my breath. I don’t like DRM either but hey in this case your just renting the music that part I can live with. All the music I buy I get from amazon because it is DRM free. I would kill to have this available on my iphone though because I buy an album and then the next day I am “feeling” something else I have to have. Call me ADD and you might be right. However this seems like a big shift for Apple. They do not often bend to pressure even from that of their loyal customer base. How long have we been asking for bluetooth? When they give it to us in iPhone What no A2DP thats just lame? You want to sync wirelessly so you only have to connect your ipod/phone to your computer to update firmware? Please nobody wants that (Atleast Apple thinks not). The exception to this rule however is their shift in strategy from web apps to the beloved app store. I hope this shows their willingness to give us what we want but really we are all just having a hard time accepting that Steve knows whats best for us far better than we do. Sigh………
